St. Vincent dePaul Society

St. Vincent dePaul Society

The St. Vincent de Paul Society meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the school.

At Thanksgiving and Christmas, we meet twice a month as members prepare to distribute food to families that need help in providing traditional holiday meals.

If you are interested in joining this wonderful ministry and following in the footsteps of St. Vincent in helping the poor, please come to one of our meetings or call the rectory

 716-754-4118  for more information.

Food Barrels & Clothing Drop-off

PLEASE DROP NON-PERISHABLES AND PERSONAL ITEMS IN THE BARRELS ONCE AGAIN, AS THE NEED IS GREAT.
Both worship sites have barrels in the vestibules for donations.

In addition to food donations, please know that donations of personal care items (shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) are also welcome. If you are able to donate these types of items, please place them in the barrels and our St. Vincent de Paul Society will make sure they are delivered to Heart, Love & Soul to assist those in need in our community. Thank you for your generosity!

Please note that, now that our parking lot has been repaved and our playground has been installed, we have brought back the St. Vincent de Paul Donation Clothing Bin located behind the school. As always, thank you for your continued generosity!

Gratefully,

Lewiston Redemption Center

Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference has set up an account at the Lewiston Redemption Center where you can return your deposit bottles and cans and donate the proceeds to us. Bring your bag of redeemables to 820 Seneca Street (next to Greg’s Pools and around the corner from the library) and the Redemption Center staff will do all the work. It will go a long way in helping us assist the poor and needy in our community! Questions?

Call Jim Allen at 716-754-8897.

Furniture & Appliance Donations

St. Vincent de Paul is now able to accept and pick up donations of furniture and appliances from Lewiston. Pickups are coordinated through the St. Vincent de Paul office in Buffalo and occur on the first and third Fridays of the month. Please call the Buffalo office at 882-3360 if you would like to schedule a pickup. At this time, their office will only schedule pickups from Lewiston addresses; they will not pick up items if the residence is located in Youngstown. Also, please note that the furniture or appliance must be located on the first floor of the building, not a basement or second floor location.

As always, thank you for your generosity!

If you know someone who might need help please contact Mike Roemer at 472-5886 with the name and phone number of the person.

New Button

Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society (or Vincentians) are men and women who strive to grow spiritually through acts of charity. They believe that our blessings of time, talent and treasure are meant to be shared with our brothers and sisters in need.

Blessed Frederic Ozanam, together with other young students, founded the society in 1833 in Paris. They developed their method of service under the guidance of Sister (now Saint) Rosalie Rendu, a Daughter of Charity who was prominent in her service in the slums of Paris. The society is named for St. Vincent de Paul, the universal patron of charitable works.

The religious congregation he founded, the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians), sponsors Niagara University.
